We are doing it…we are taking a huge step and becoming home owners!  Ahhh!  Man, it is scary growing up!  In about a week, we should be signing papers and becoming Southern California home owners.  I didn’t want to post until it was a done deal, but we are a week out from closing and it pretty much looks like it’s done deal, they even posted the SOLD sign!
This process has been the most hard on me, I must not be very good with change.  Tim has been 100% ready the whole time - I just took a little more time getting there.  We have been in our tiny apartment for a long time and there are A LOT of changes that come with moving cities and moving into more space…but they will be good changes, they will be.  Our tiny apartment has been great for us…it just didn’t come with many any amenities.  So I’m really looking forward to having some amenities…you know, like a parking spot, laundry inside (that you don’t need quarters to operate), heat (yes, heat - we don’t have heat!).  We are going to have a home of our own, with space to grow…pretty amazing!

must try!
hrrrthrrr:

It’s beginning to feel a lot like summer here in California and I’m lucky enough to have a Meyer lemon tree in the backyard of my work space. So the other day  I went and picked a bunch of lemons to see if I could come up with a tasty lemonade. Here’s the results…
Simple Syrup Recipe
1 cup sugar
1 cup water
1 vanilla bean (cut in half lengthwise, seeds removed, pod reserved)
(you can use extract, but because it’s super concentrated, be careful not to make it too strong — about 1 tsp or even less)
8-10 cut strawberries
Instructions
Place the strawberries in a pot along with the water and sugar.  Bring to a boil, lower heat, and simmer until the strawberries break down, the sugar dissolves and the sauce thickens slightly (about 5 minutes). Place syrup in the refrigerator to cool. You can choose whether or not you want to strain out the strawberry chunks.
Squeeze your lemons till you get about 2-3 cups of juice (strained).  I used about 8-10 lemons. Now here’s where you get to experiment. I started with 2 cups of lemon juice, 3 cups of water and 1 cup of simple syrup.  I then added more of each to taste. Depending on how you like your lemonade (and how tart your lemons are), you can add additional juice, water, vanilla, or simple syrup to your liking. Stick in the refrigerator to cool and enjoy over ice!
(Note: I noticed that after cooling and setting in my refrigerator, my lemons were slightly tarter so I added a bit of water to it before serving. Oh and the bottles are from Ikea or online here.)

must try!

Last weekend was BIG!  I got to go home to spend a fabulous weekend celebrating my sister’s upcoming wedding with a lovely Sunday afternoon bridal shower, my brother (in-law)’s birthday, and we got some really exciting news that I’ll post soon!

All I can say, is I am one lucky girl to have such a wonderful family!  A big thank you to my wonderful and generous mom who helped with the shower and my beautiful big sis for making it all so lovely!

A very cool project that my huz has had the amazing opportunity to be a part of!  This documentary is so good, while Tim’s been mixing, I just want him to stop working so I can watch the whole thing!

Wishing Butch, the Black Widows and the filmmakers all the best in Nashville!

butchwalker:

What’s up friends?? I have missed chatting with you all about stuff, but a boy’s gotta work. And by work, I mean making music for me and people I like. The topic at hand though is….. Documentaries. Do you like them? I do. I watch them all the time. I also like them when they are music docs. Well, it just so happens that a couple of chaps named Peter and Shane followed me around and filmed my every move and decided they wanted to make a documentary film. At first, I was skeptical because well… It’s narcissistic as shit, but they tricked me into thinking it was gonna just be a piece on me and the Widows making our last record The Spade. Turns out they just kept on shooting after that… For a year. They somehow convinced me to let them put it out, so here goes nothing….

It’s called “Out of Focus” and it will be debuting at the Nashville Film Festival on April 24th, watch the trailer here. I think I will come down to Music City USA for this and maybe if I am not busy throwing up from nerves, I am gonna sit quietly in the corner eating popcorn, then if you guys want, I will play a show at a venue called 12th and Porter the next night on April 25th. It will be a special intimate show with just yours truly, playing some songs and shooting the shit with you. I hope you all will come. It’ll make me feel a lot better about the whole thing.

Here’s all the info you need!
